What happens in an acupuncture session?

Clients are required to complete a thorough health questionnaire. Topics:

• Family medical history
• Chief complaint/present medical conditions
• Diet and exercise habits
• Primary Physican info
• Current Western medical diagnosis

Your acupuncture session will begin with a traditional process which includes examination of 9 pulses on the wrist and observation of the tongue which gives information about the condition of the body's energy, digestive processes and overall general health. Palpation of areas of pain or discomfort are evaluated.

Next, your acupuncturist will develop a treatment plan to meet your needs.  You will then be asked to relax comfortably on a massage/acupuncture table and your acupuncturist will then insert tiny sterilized one-time use needles into specific areas/acupoints that are best chosen from the assessment.

You will possibly feel some sensation of pressure or tingling as the treatment begins to work.  The needles remain in place for approximately 20 minutes while you relax and have time to clear your mind so the healing process can take place.
